Maureen Dowd on McCain's slime campaign

Here is a great article - scary on McCain's slide into slime and Palin's disinginuity on Obama. She who says he can't answer a questions glides/slides right out of answering the question put to her. See the last couple of paragraphs.

Who is Sarah Palin? links to follow

I live in Alaska, thus friends wanted my take on her as governor (and mayor of Wasilla) when she was announced as VP candidate for McCain. In addition, on my last trip outside (the lower 48 to those non-Alaskans) I was immediately asked this question. Thus I've listed some of my thoughts on her and why I do not consider her a viable VP candidate.

Below are some links to articles that supplement my thoughts, as well as some humorous bits I have received from friends and acquaintances over the last few weeks.

As mayor of Wasilla she did NOT refuse earmarks. In fact she hired a lobbyist to get earmarks for the town. She also left Wasilla with higher property taxes than when she entered office.

As governor of Alaska she relies on her Wasilla buddies to advise her. She rarely meets with her commissioners and listens mostly to her friends. Do we want a possible president to listen only to their friends?

Here are some links to articles, images and comments that I think describe her quite well.

Check out the Anchorage Daily News at http://www.adn.com - for up-to-date articles about her. Always something of interest - either front page or opinions/letters.

Anti-Palin rally in Anchorage - an impromptu event dreamed up by some women around coffee. Drw over 1500 people - not 100s as implied in this article.

The link detailing her affiliation with a pentacostal church has been taken down! What does that mean?

Why I've started another blog

I'm starting this blog so it is separate from the Start Walking blog I use for the walking program where I work. This way I can say what I want here and not have to worry about a conflict with the other one.

So....today I attended the anti-Palin rally in Anchorage. What an uplifting experience - so many people came. I had no idea that many would be there. I had a great time just experiencing the positive energy and also running into friends and co-workers and others I knew by sight.
